The E-Touch™ Method
Over and over again we have seen the profound changes the e-collar can make in a dog, and how quickly and gently these changes happen. No longer are we opponents of "shock collars," we have become major supporters of using "remote electronic training collars" properly. The new technology allows owners to communicate with their dog in a very subtle way without ever using force or high levels that "shock" the dog. We invite you to come to our facility and try it on yourself first. We promise that you will be pleasantly surprised. Proper use of the E- Collar is an exceptional dog training method. We love working with this tool, and you will find that the dogs do as well. You will also be pleased to see that it is only one of many positive tools that we use in training your dog. Sherry is a graduate of Martin Deeley's International School for Dog Trainers and is certified by Martin in the use of the remote electronic training collar.
As Martin Deeley himself says:
"For me the e-collar is a tool which helps me with a methodology, philosophy and approach we have developed over the years and are still developing. It is not an end in itself. E-Touch, which I developed, is not a magic method, it is a catalyst which can be incorporated within training approaches to train even better. In training a dog we may use food, verbal rewards, tactile rewards, or whatever. The e-collar is a tool that can be added to the mixture to create something special. BUT the main principles of good training do not disappear, we stay creative, we do not depend on the e-collar for everything, there is no one best approach, it is not a race to see who can train the fastest. And most of all we work within the temperament and pace of the dog - reading the dog, and maintaining a true companion relationship. We want a dog that will be a dog, will make decisions, and basically acts as a dog while remaining a partner and companion.
Although I originally started off using the collar in gundog work, I quickly realized the advantages with pet/companion dogs. I also found that by incorporating the collar with `traditional' approaches I could get good results and pass over the controls to owners. I could also use mostly low levels, because I mixed it with leash work, treats, tennis balls, hand manipulation etc. This was the start of "E-Touch".
I am confident in the method and approaches I use with E-Touch, which achieve the desired results of a well behaved happy family dog.
The e-collar is the most comprehensive training tool available to us today. Following training, it is the most effective off leash communication between owner and dog. Most of all, the big advantage is the ability of a trainer to hand control to an owner; who does not have to be a skilled handler or trainer"
